It began with rain squall, a clap of thunder and a bell tolling in the distance. Then the sound of a super distorted diminished fifth interval – an interval once banned by the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH in the 13th Century – the Devil's interval. Then, from beyond the grave a voice wails “what is this that stands before me”
…. And music was never the same again.
The band were BLACK SABBATH; the track was the first track of the band’s first release. The Guitar player was Tony Iommi and the sound of that super distorted diminished fifth interval was the sound of a Laney amp – an LA100BL.
We are extremely proud of our association with Tony Iommi and very happy to mark the final ever Black Sabbath show with the announcement of a very limited, hand signed and numbered faithful re-issue of his legendary signature amp, the Laney TI100.
Handcrafted in our UK Black Country Customs workshop. Where we still build high-end tube amps with all the care and attention that we have been doing for the last 6 decades.
This limited edition TI100 features 100 watts RMS, 8 x 12AX7 loaded preamp and a 4 x 6L6 output section giving you masses of modern, smooth, tube amp tone.
The TI100 features both LEAD & RHYTHM channels.
Both channels offer serious amounts of GAIN but have subtle differences in the character of each. The RHYTHM channel gives you a particularly pleasing edge of break up tone whilst the LEAD channel offers tonnes of liquid smooth gain. The TI100’s gain is renowned and should be heard to be believed. The TI100 offers a super tight responsive low end great for down tuning.
The TI100 is a truly versatile amp!
Hitting the front end of an amp harder makes everything sound better. This is just like having your favourite boost pedal sat in front of the amp giving you all the rich harmonic tonal content of a tube amp run hard.
The TI100’s powerful 3 band EQ allows you to dial in the exact tone you are looking for at any volume.
The ENHANCE and PRESENCE features on the TI100 are really useful in dialling in the amps response you are looking for.
The ENHANCE control allows control over the response of the amplifier to lower frequencies. Turning the control clockwise gives a looser low-end feel, while lower settings provide a tighter, punchier response.
The PRESENCE control sits in the output stage of the TI100, and it allows you to tune the higher frequency content of the TI100’s 6L6 equipped output section.
PRE AMP-OUT: The TI100 gives the user the option of adding an additional amplifier in a multi-amp setup where a single TI100 preamp can drive several power stages.
POWER AMP IN: This socket provides the user with an input to the power amplifier stage. Idea for connecting a pair of TI100, or any other amp for that matter.
The TI100’s effects loop is ultra transparent and is capable of handling everything from vintage pedals to high end rack mount units. It can be used in 3 different modes depending on the effects you are using. If you aren’t using effects then the bypass mode hardwires it out of the signal path. The FX return level allows you to trim the return level to make sure nothing is lost when gain wise when using external effects.
In order to remotely switch the TI100 each unit is supplied with a dedicated custom FS4-TI. Anything that is switchable on the front panel can now be switched at your feet.
The TI100 is fitted with sturdy top mounted grab handles for ease of transport.
These ergonomically designed handles make carrying your TI100 to your next gig as comfortable as it can be.
Guitar players listen with their eyes! Not only does the TI100 sound amazing it looks amazing too! Finished in the icon cross livery of Tony Iommi the TI100 look a million dollars in any venue as it glows RED!
Each Limited Edition TI100 is personally signed by Tony Iommi and comes with an individual COA, 4 custom commemorative postcards and a set of Tony Iommi pics
Handcrafted in our UK workshop - Black Country Customs - each TI100 head includes a custom cover to keep your collector’s item in top condition.
There are very few chances in life to claim a first. In the case of the global phenomena that is heavy metal, the first heavy metal tone was crafted by Tony Iommi and powered by Laney.
Black Sabbath – it started with Laney, and it ends with Laney.
