Many bands have a loyal support and following, but few bands have fans that are willing withstand 30 degree heat in the blazing English countryside to feed their riff thirst, and only one band have fans who will dress up in an inflatable dinosaur costume and get fully stuck in to the mosh pit, that band is, of course, Dinosaur Pile-Up.
Taking to the Opus stage at 4:30 on the final day, blistering heat hasn’t deterred the baying and loyal fans in search of riffs and choruses to scream your head off to, DPU start with Pouring Gasoline, a thrash metal rock song from their incredible last release ‘Celebrity Mansions’, there are circle pits, there are mosh pits, there isn’t a dull face in sight!
There’s an old saying when compiling a set list, it should be a roller coaster, with ups and downs, however when you have as many belters as DPU have, the only way is up, up, up! Fan favourite 11:11 ensures the energy continues before a rip roaring double whammy of Thrash Metal Cassette and wrapping things up with the riff of all riffs; BACKFOOT!
DPU never fail to disappoint and with Matt Biglands Ironheart head and cabs, and Jim Cratchley tearing the bass world apart with his Digbeth rig, we are safe and certain that the world of rock is in very safe hands. What is next for the DPU boys? New music, and we can’t wait!
