LANEY A-DUO PRESS RELEASE

JANUARY 2017: Laney proudly introduces a brand-new model to its A-Series acoustic amplifier range. The Laney A-DUO is a portable acoustic instrument combo with a range of acoustic-friendly controls and variables including digital reverb and chorus.

Designed and engineered in the UK, the A-DUO calls on Laney’s 50-year history of amplifier building to provide versatility, portability, and reliability to all levels of player.

POWER AND PORTABILITY At only 10.5kg (23.2lbs), the A-DUO is very portable but can deliver the power and headroom for large stage performances. An ultra-efficient, dual mono Class D power amplifier is combined with a pair of 8” custom-designed dual-cone woofers to deliver articulate, transparent acoustic sound reproduction with both punch and high end clarity.

ADAPTABLE CABINET DESIGN The A-DUO has been designed to adapt to multiple performance situations. Placed on the floor it has a minimal stage footprint and can even be used as a performance seat in this position. Alternatively, it can be placed on its side feet for tonal variation or mounted on a speaker stand for maximum projection.

DUAL CHANNEL FLEXIBILITY The A-DUO has two completely independent channel strips, both of which can accept either XLR or Jack inputs, provide 3-band equalization and feature a ‘Shape’ control for instant single button optimization. This flexibility allows for connection of a mic and instrument, two different acoustic instruments or even a blend of separate mic and pickup connections from the same instrument. Plus, with an additional Aux in connection for backing tracks, the A-DUO is ideal for live performances.

ON-BOARD DIGITAL EFFECTS Both channels also feature their own Chorus and/or Reverb for further sound enhancement without the need for external effects units. Each channel’s Chorus is visibly engaged with a green LED light which will then pulse giving an indication of the LFO (low frequency oscillator) rate. This rate can then also be adjusted by simply holding down the Chorus switch and turning the Reverb control pot. On letting go of the Chorus switch, the rate is stored and will even be recalled at the next switch on. Reverb and Chorus can be remotely bypass via FS2-MINI footswitch (available separately)

FEEDBACK ELMINIATION A simple but very effective Anti-Feedback button can be engaged to automatically scan for and then eliminate unwanted feedback. A Phase switch is also on hand to remove of destructive interference which can occur when a player is too close to the amplifier; a simple solution at the switch of a single button.

PRO EXTRAS On both XLR channel inputs, Phantom power is permanently available for use with a condenser or dynamic microphone. A balanced XLR D.I. out provides direct, mic-free connection to a mixer or active speaker system for larger performance situations. Four digital EQ pre-sets provide sound global enhancement options depending on situation and setup.
